Over the past week I have been writing a few articles on scams for a client of mine. One of the scams was those flashy ads that pop up when you visit certain websites, promising to hand over the secrets you need to make hundreds of dollars a day from Google. Unfortunately, these scams do nothing more than hand over your money, and subsequently make it very difficult to have that money returned.
While such sites are clearly the work of scammers, there are jobs available through Google. These jobs involve checking the quality of Google's ads, and they pay quite well. Unfortunately for those of us who live in the UK, those jobs are only available to US workers.
However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Some companies do hire ad checkers from the UK. The following sites are available to those who would like to check the quality of ads from home:
Lionbridge offer a couple of different work from home opportunities to those living in the UK. As I look at the site, they are offering a job that involves checking the quality of the keywords and phrases used to search for certain websites. They are also offering an 'Internet Crowd Worker' position. You can work up to 20 hours a week with Lionbridge. In order to work for them, you need a degree level qualification, and you must have been living in the UK for at least five years.
Leapforce's job details are a little skimpy, but they do hire from the UK. According to the WAHM forums, they offer ad checking positions similar to those offered by Lionbridge. The application takes around 14 days, and you do not need a degree to get hired.
Appen Butler Hill
Appen Butler Hill hire on a global basis, and they offer web search evaluation positions. In addition to this, they provide data collection positions, transcription work, and linguistic assignments.Unlike Lionbridge and Leapforce, Appen Butler Hill pay per task for some of their jobs, but there are coveted positions available that offer per hour fees. This means that your hourly rate is not guaranteed for all positions.
What are the advantages of being a web search evaluator?
Working as a web search evaluator is a great way to make money from home if you do not have a specific skillset. With the exception of Lionbridge, who want you to have a degree, these companies are ideal to those who have no qualifications. If you can attract a per hour fee position, you have security. It is also flexible.
What are the disadvantages?
A major disadvantage is that you can rarely find more than 20 hours per week. However, if you are willing to work for two different companies, this is something you can tackle easily.
